LXI Apprentice Software Alternative

As a hobbyist, I recently pulled out my Vinyl Express R-Series II plotter to play around with it again, only to realize that I couldn't find the CD containing the LXI apprentice software. After some research, I found that even if I had the software, it likely wouldn't run on my current Windows 10 machine.

I've tried reaching out to Sign Warehouse, but since I made the purchase three years ago, I have little hope of getting any help. This got me thinking - is there an alternative to spending additional money for another piece of software?

After some digging, I found that LXI Apprentice seems to be a relatively expensive option, with prices ranging from $60 to $200 or more. Considering I've already paid a significant amount for the plotter itself ($300), it seems crazy to spend even more on software.

In my search for an alternative, I discovered that OpenSource and Freeware options like Processing, GIT, R, and Python 2.7 might be viable alternatives. Additionally, I came across XR Development tools like Unreal Engine, Unity, and A-Frame, as well as Microsoft's Fragments and Doku Desu Ka.

Other options include Steam's Tilt Brush, Job Simulator, and Lune, Oculus' Beat Saber, Kobold, and Robo Recall, and OpenSource/Freeware tools like Blender, Sculptris Alpha, Ultimaker Cura, Matter Control, MeshLab, and Mesh Room.

Finally, I also found that some of these workstations have software available for use on-site, including Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Animate, and InCopy.

In conclusion, while LXI Apprentice might be the most direct solution for cutting EPS or SVG files with my plotter, it's not the only option. With some creativity and exploration of OpenSource and Freeware alternatives, I hope to find a more cost-effective solution that still meets my needs.
